Privacy
Short version: I collect what I need to decide whether this journey is right for you, and to run it properly if it is. I do not sell it and I do not share it beyond what running the journey requires.

What I collect, and why
When you apply: your name, email, phone, country, how you found us, why you're coming, and any prior experience. I use this to decide fit and to contact you about your application.
If you place a deposit: the information needed to run the journey — rooming preference, dietary and accessibility needs, passport details for internal flights and hotel bookings, and emergency contact.
If you ask for the written guide: your email address only.
Health information
I deliberately do not ask for health information on the application form. It is discussed on the call and collected only after you have been accepted, when there is a real reason to hold it. It is used solely to run the journey safely, shared only with the people who need it on the ground, and deleted after the journey unless you ask otherwise.
Who it is shared with
Stripe processes payments — your card details never reach us. Email is sent through EmailOctopus. Hotels, the boat operator and our Egyptian ground partner receive only the details needed for your bookings.
The Egypt tribe. When your deposit clears you are invited into a private WhatsApp group with the other pilgrims. In a WhatsApp group, every member can see every other member's phone number and profile. That is how the app works and I cannot change it, so I ask before adding you rather than after.
You are asked at the payment step, as a yes or no. Saying no costs you nothing — you get the same information by email and nothing else changes. You can leave the group at any time, and if you do I will not add you back.
Nobody else receives your details.
How long it is kept
Applications that don't proceed: twelve months, then deleted. Pilgrims: seven years, because Australian tax law requires it. The guide list: until you leave, which is one click in every email.
Your rights
Ask me for a copy of what I hold, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Write to hello@barrymagliarditi.com and I will action it within thirty days.
Cookies and measurement
This site sets no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies, and it sells nothing to anybody.
It does measure, in two ways. Page analytics are cookieless and count visits rather than people. And if you arrive from a link I have shared, that link may carry a tag telling me which message you came from — held in your browser for the length of your visit and attached to your application if you make one. It exists so I know which conversations reach people, nothing more.
